BALTIMORE, MD – There’s a new species of reality TV at The Maryland Zoo thanks to the addition of live cameras in the animal habitats now streaming online!
Zoo fans can tune in via four links on the Zoo’s website. Two of the cameras center on the newly expanded and renovated African Journey habitats. Enter the lions’ habitat via the Lion Cam, where Zuri and Hassan can often be seen playing with enrichment items and taking cat naps. On the Giraffe Cam, viewers can watch the herd of reticulated giraffe munching on browse at the Giraffe Feeding Station.
The Flamingo Cam offers all the drama with the Zoo’s flock of bright pink Caribbean flamingos. And, three live cameras at Penguin Coast, give viewers the inside view of the Zoo’s bustling colony of nearly 100 African black-footed penguins.
Most animals are in view on the cameras during the Zoo’s public hours, from 10 a.m – 4 p.m. daily. The live cameras can be found in the “Meet the Animals” section of the website.
To celebrate the new views, the Zoo is holding a Live Cam Contest until Friday, July 12. Viewers, who spot mascot Rita the Giraffe on the Giraffe Cam, will have the chance to win a coupon for a free Giraffe Feeding Experience. For details, click here.
